Every parent knows how difficult
it can be to keep their children entertained for the long summer holidays.
Well, John Nike
Leisuresport Limited is here to help, with activities run especially
for kids throughout the six-week break – as well as fun for the
rest of the family.
Swadlincote
Skiing and snowboarding are the order of the day at John Nike Leisuresport,
Swadlincote. Each week of the holiday is divided between skiing (Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays) and snowboarding (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
with snow bobbing
and tobogganing every day. Children aged between eight and 16- years-old
are invited to join in these Fun Activity Days, at the end of which
they are presented with a certificate and a badge. They cost £20
per child per day (from 10am to 4pm) and include lunch.
Plymouth
At Plymouth, the fun starts even before school stops. Schools are
invited to use the centre’s facilities for a week throughout
June and July – an offer which over 20 schools had already taken
up when Connections went to press. The value of skiing in terms of
fitness has been recognised in the National Curriculum which is why
so many schools are treating their pupils to a trip to the centre
to enable them to wind down before the big summer break. The week
includes up to six hours per day enjoying winter sports such as skiing,
snowboarding and tobogganing and, at the end of the week, they get
to show off their new skills in games and races.

Revolutionary new ski surface launched |
|
Soon the Nike Group company,Techmat
2000, will unveil its eagerly awaited new skiing product.The revolutionary
surface will be launched at the John Nike Leisuresport complex in
Bracknell during the late summer.
The new ski ‘carpet’ will cover one of Bracknell’s three slopes for
its marketing launch and John Leonard,Techmat’s Manager, is convinced
it will be a success.
He told Connections:"This is a very exciting development in the
world of artificial ski matting.Tests so far have showed that it simulates
the experience of skiing on snow much better than the traditional
diamond-shaped brush matting by allowing the skis to move more freely."
Techmat 2000 will be revealing the ski carpet at a special launch in Bracknell later this year. First time users’ comments will make
interesting reading in the autumn edition.
